AIDAN DeYOUNG

​

Aidan received his training at the Academy of Ballet in San Francisco with Richard Gibson and Zory Karah. In 2009 Aidan joined Ballet West where he performed roles in works by Balanchine, Sir Frederick Ashton, Jiri Kylian, Nicolo Fonte and Helen Pickett. While with Ballet West Aidan was given the opportunity to choreograph on the Ballet West Academy and the main company working with the dancers to create his works Outward, Eenvoudig, and InForm.

 

Aidan spent the summers of 2010 and 2011 broadening his dancing style at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance under the tutelage of Summer Rhatigan, Alex Ketley, Christian Burns and Tristan Ching where he studied the techniques and styles of William Forsythe, Ohad Naharin and Robert Moses as well as exploring choreography by Alex Ketley and Christian Burns.

 

In 2012 Aidan returned to the Bay Area and joined Smuin Ballet. While with Smuin he danced in ballets by Adam Houghland and Helen Pickett as well as creating roles in Amy Seiwert’s But Now I Must Rest and Val Caniparoli’s Tutto Eccetto il Lavandino. Aidan has recently worked for BurnsWork, Liss Fain Dance, Amy Seiwert’s Imagery and Robert Dekkers’ Post:Ballet where he has performed in many of Dekkers’ works including the creation of Field the Present Shifts, earning a nomination for an Isadora Duncan award. Aidan spends his free time away from dance baking, throwing frisbees and playing tennis among other activities.
